Ahaha...

...so you're pretty much saying that Mike Shinoda made a hit single using a Garageband sample? Interesting. Whilst I disagree with grabbing a bunch of loops and sticking them together to make a song (we all started that way though, hah), it makes a fairly interesting song. Not voting though, for the aforementioned reason.

AvatarKami responds:

No I'm not saying that, but Fort Minor DID uses loops in its songs, so what??? Still sounds fine. A lot of songs use loops. In fact, I am not saying anything, the fact that you, using conjecture and obviously flawed logic, have somehow come to the conclusion that I am belittling the accomplishments of talented artists such as Mike Shinoda by using a loop is the definition of stupidity. Sorry to be blunt, but your implications that I have no talent is sadly misguided. I hope, once I get a hold of a better program, I can change your opinion.

Wow.

The piano is just....beautiful. The drums killed it for me, but regardless, it's an instant 5. It's funny how simple melodies are often the best-sounding. It's a shame the piano gets distorted by the drums too.

nubbinownz responds:

yeah they do a bit :( that was my fault when i was mastering, I recently realized i left alot of levels unchecked.

Love it.

When I originally heard this song, I thought "Damn, I -have- to make a cover of it." I opened FL and calculated the tempo, but failed miserably X3 Guess it's easier when you have the actual project or midis.

Anyway, it's a really good song with a carefree feeling to it. The piano melody is simply beautiful. I'm not too fond of the pad in the background, but the flute goes really well with the piano and the drum beat has a nice rhythm. Hell, your newest song sounds nothing like this, and I do like this one better. Keep it up, mate, downloaded and 5'd.

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks man. I'm glad you like this one. My other song shares a few instruments with this song, but, yeah, this song is a lot simpler and more consistent. Thanks for the review.

Not bad.

First thing I noticed was the pad, and I have to say, I dislike it. But eh, minor details, moving on. The piano, sir, lacks effects. I would suggest adding reverb and a tad bit of delay because it sounds too....Fruity Loopy and plain. The high-frequency sounds sound annoying and should be removed IMO.

The kickoff at 0:51 is good, but the beat that follows it totally ruins it due to its weakness, not to mention the ugly (may I say hideous, actually) bass that keeps panning left and right at a volume so high that it manages to drown the other lower frequencies. The melodies themselves are not bad, they're quite upbeat, but again, they're also drowned by the annoying bass and they're too repetitive. The sample choices for the beat aren't that bad really.

After listening to the whole song, I must conclude that the bass totally ruins the song. The song has potential if the tunes and drums are brought out more with some mastering, but it lacks some serious polishing. The pad choices aren't any good to me either, I would suggest better ones. As it is though, the main problem lies on the bass, as I mentioned before. Get rid of that and fix the rest, it could make a good track.

6/10 critical review; 4/5 vote for effort.

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks for the critical review. I didn't realise all those flaws. I'll propbaby fix it up a bit more, keeping your comments in mind. I think I did have some reverb on the piano, but I'll go over it again, and polish it up some more.

Thanks for the honest review.

Hah...

You and your pretty scenery-oriented themes. Very peculiar style, if I may add. Always good as usual, mate. I wouldn't exactly say it's sub par to your other music since, despite the similar sounds, they're all fairly different songs. I love your instrument selection too, it's very unique IMO. Just one inquiry, at what tempo is this song written? I'm saying around the 60's as a wild guess, but I'm sure I'm a bit off :P Congrats on modship by the way. I demand that "unbelievable amount of love" >:D

5'd; 4.14 ---> 4.17, I'm surprised it hit as low as 2.64 at one point. Gotta love those 0 bombers.

Sweet Lord...

The recording quality is excellent O: Nice and heavy, rather short and repetitive though. Still, keep it up, 5'd.

DarKsidE555 responds:

Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed!

Epic.

Reminds me of the Previewman joke, by Pablo Francisco. Amazing though, I love sonicmega's acting. Fave'd :D

Very nice.

Y'know, this -screams- clown music. It's got that...comical feeling to it IMO. Despite the lack of effects, it's still a good track because it doesn't really need any. You managed to pull off a tempo change very nicely too. I don't really mind the repetitiveness because I hear enough variation for such a short track. I'm more into emotional classical songs and I have to admit that I never really liked comical-sounding piano songs, but from an unbiased point of view, it's a great track. Nice job.

Thanks! I appreciate the nice review.

Not bad.

This reminds me so much of God Lives Underwater for some reason <3

Very amazing vst's you got, they sound really good and the lead is rather catchy. Not a fan of the drums, but the rest is pretty good. Nice work.

Bunny-master responds:

Apparently not of love for these drums, but I gotta say they really sound very fitting to me. Ah well, we're all different. But uh, thanks for the love!

Hmmm...

No votes and 22 listens? For shame.

The piano could have used some effects to avoid sounding digital. The bass sounded a tad bit distorted, but eh, don't mind it really, and it's probably just me.

The repetitiveness is what kills this song. It sounds pretty and all, but it's just the same thing over and over again, needs variation, mate. Adding a melody would have helped the song tremendously. Voting 4 to make up for the lack of votes, but I'd give a 3.

DeusExMagna responds:

Thanks, man! I might go back to this one here soon and resubmit it later this coming week. I agree that the piano is a tad jagged, but that can be fixed easily enough. The bass, on the other hand, was supposed to be a little distorted, but in retrospect I didn't quite achieve what I'd set out to do with it-- the bassline, that is.

I might record a live guitar track later on, just to fill the song out. I figure that could be rather interesting. Maybe even some vocals-- hell, why not?

Okay, getting ahead of myself. Thanks for the review! If you're interesting, there might be a newer version here next week.
